“Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means.”
2 Corinthians 8:11
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”
The act of giving is a small act in comparison to the blessings we are given. There are side effects to generosity. Giving enriches and benefits the giver and more importantly, serves as an outward sign of thanking God for all we are given. Our giving can inspire others. God tells us if we bless Him by tithing, He’ll bless us beyond anything we can imagine. However, our attitudes must change from those of seeking instant gratification to knowing that even if the value of serving and giving to Him is not obvious today, it surely will be someday. We are rewarded by spending eternity with The One who loves and provides for us the most. Given that perspective, how could we not do all we can now with what He’s so generously given to us?
